SPFL TO HONOR TODAYS SOUTHERN HEROES

Tampa, FL – The Southern Party of Florida has announced that they plan on making a second go around the local cemeteries and memorials to once again show their respect for the brave Southern heroes that paid the ultimate price in defense of Dixie. The Party stated in a press release earlier today that they feel that Southerners place too much focus on honoring Confederate dead from the War of Northern Aggression, which is very important and a top priority, but feel that many modern Southern heroes have been over looked, which is why the Party plans to branch out on the American Memorial Day and visit the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

Party leaders would like to invite any and all Party members and supporters to join them on their journey to honor Florida’s heroes. The trek begins Monday morning (May 26, 2008) at 6:00am at Oaklawn Cemetery in Downtown, Tampa. The Party plans on placing fresh sets of flowers at the grave sites of Confederate troops, and honoring them with an instrumental version of Dixie that will be played as the sun rises over the bay. At 8:30am the Party plans on heading up to the Florida National Cemetery to honor Southern heroes that gave their lives during WW1, WW2, Vietnam, and the current War in Iraq.

Not many Southerners know that since the Spanish American War, which was the first war following the end of reconstruction in the occupied Confederacy, Southern soldiers have had a proud tradition of carrying Confederate battle flags into combat to honor their forefathers, fallen family members, and to let the Americans know that we are there not for their Union, but instead in defense of Dixie.

This tradition despite many Southern traditions has lasted the test of time; during the hectic trench ware fare battles of World War One the Confederate Flag was there; during the invasion of both Iwo Jima and Normandy hundreds of brave Southern troops proudly carried the Stars N Bars as they stormed the enemy beach heads; in the thick enemy infested jungles of southeast Asia, Southern troops, fought under the vigilant eye of the Confederate Battle Flag, and even today in the desolate waste lands of the middle east brave fighting men and women risk their lives for the defense of Dixie!

In in defense of this proud and over looked tradition the Southern Party of Florida is taking time to make sure that the sacrifices of both modern and historic Southron troops is properly honored and remembered through out the year.

God Save the South!
