FLORIDIANS SUPPORT I-75 CONFEDERATE FLAG

Tampa, FL - The World’s Largest Confederate Battle Flag was recently flown for its 3rd time earlier this month (Saturday – June 14, 2008) in recognition of a holiday that is normally over looked by the majority of Floridians; what is this holiday you ask, well it is none other then ole Flag Day.

Given the pro-transplant / anti-Southron atmosphere of Bay area’s media outlets, which by the way is driven by Florida’s rampaging development and tourism industries which has done everything in its power to wipe any signs of Dixie out the area, you would had expected to see another round of nasty, mud slinging, smear stories appearing on the local airwaves regarding the flying of the most honored of all Southron symbols.

Well you and I would had been wrong, you see the local media that chastised the Confederate Flag as a symbol of evil and hatred chose instead to overlook the flying of the Worlds Largest Confederate Flag and instead cover much more important news stories like for example a Man whom killed his pet rabbit, a lady in Polk whom was over charged $5.00 on her grocery bill, and how a small and run down motel can’t afford to have fireworks on July 4th?!

Why did the local media take a pass on covering the Confederate Battle Flag you ask, well at first we just like you did not have an idea as to how they could have overlooked the Worlds Largest anything flying alongside the busiest stretch of interstate highway south of Atlanta. Then later the following week we got our answer and it may just shock some of you out there that have yet to stop drinking the “Confederate Flag is Evil” cool aid.

The only reason why the local Tampa Bay Area media chose to over look the flying of the Worlds Largest Confederate Flag on Flag Day was because when the local media trucks pulled up at the Confederate Memorial Park, which it has been confirmed that they were invited and did show up, they encountered a sight that made all of them but network giant Fox News (which flew down here from New York) turn tail and run back to the station and erase any footage they taped.

What is this sight you ask that made them turn around, waste $4.00 a gallon gas, erase footage, and cover sweeps week stories in the middle of July? Well when the local media trucks pulled up they came across something they know to be true but did not expect to see which is a very racially diverse group of native Floridians that was saluting the Stars N Bars, singing Dixie, and wearing kepis. Yes it may come to shock to you Yankee’s out there in propaganda land but we Southerners (also known as Southrons, Confederates, and yes Americans or Southern American) come in all colors, religions, sexes, creeds, and ethnic backgrounds.

You see the local Tampa Bay area media despite sending camera crews down to the flag site and rolling tape chose to not report this issue because as they say it, they deemed it “not news worthy” enough, however national media and cable giant Fox News did?!

The fact is this, the local Tampa media is running damage control to appease their advertisers and owners which has for the past couple of years, since about 1988, been very successful in “whitewashing” over any signs that Tampa was and still remains to this day a proud Confederate City that defended itself from repeated attacks from the Yankee army and navy.

We would like to take off our kepi’s to the fair and balanced reporting of Fox News whom came down here to the Southern City of Tampa to report on this issue. For once since the Tampa I-75 Flag project became public has a news agency given a fair take on the story and told the truth that Floridians, well native ones at least, respect and honor the flag and it does not matter what color your skin is.

I have already sent a donation to the Sons of Confederate veterans to support the flag effort and the attached memorial park. I am proud to be a veteran and the son and grandson of veterans of the US miletary . I am equally proud of the eleven membersof my family that wore the gray and stood against the invaders of their homeland. The mean-spirited attacks on Southern heritage by the biased media and the slanted PC teaching of our nation’s history in the schools has created a need for groups like SCV to defend the sympols of the South.

  2. Jimmy L. Shirley Jr. Says:

“Mr. Speaker, when there were fifteen slaveholding States acknowledging allegiance to the Federal Government, and therefore, having in their hands the power to protect themselves against any invasion of their rights on the part of the Federal Government, it was a matter of very little consequence whether such an amendment as that was incorporated into the Constitution or not. But the state of the country is now radically and essentially changed. Seven or eight States now deny their allegiance to this Government, have organized a separate Confederacy, and have declared their independence of this Government.
If they shall maintain their position, and sustain the authorities there for a year or two to come, so as to show that nothing but a war of subjugation and conquest can bring them back, I, for one, am disposed to recognize that independence.”

(Ohio Republican Lt. Governor Benjamin Stanton (Congressional Globe, February 23, 1861, page 1285)

“And Southern gentlemen stand here, and in almost all their speeches, speak of the dissolution of the Union as an element of every argument—If they do not feel interested in upholding this Union, if it really trenches on their rights, if it endangers their institutions to such an extent that they cannot feel secure under it, if their interests are violently assailed by means of this Union, I am not one of those who expect that they will long continue in such a Union. It would be doing violence to the platform of the (Republican) party to which I belong.

We have adopted the old Declaration of Independence as the basis of our political movement, which declares that any people, when their government ceases to protect rights, when it is so subverted from the true purposes of government as to oppress them, have the right to recur to fundamental principles, and if need be, to destroy the government. I hold that they have this right. I will not blame any people for exercising it, whenever they think the contingency has come. You cannot hold men forcibly in this Union, for the attempt to do so, it seems to me, would subvert the first principles of the Government under which we live.”

(Senator Benjamin Wade of Ohio, (Congressional Globe, third session, 34th Congress, page 25)
