St. Petersburg, FL - We received a special envelope in the mail today from one of our readers regarding a commentary that was written in the St. Petersburg Times newspaper, about a month or two ago, regarding the recent battle between native Southrons and newly elected Govenor Charlie Crist over the State Song.
Given the nature of the St. Pete Times we expected to read a nasty column on how backwards and evil we Southrons are for wanting to keep the Suwanee River and how righteous Gov. Crist and the opposition groups are for wanting to change out a piece of Florida’s disappearing heritage with a pro-Transplant, politically correct piece of trash song. Read the rest of this entry »

NEW YORK, NY (AP) — Restaurant chains Bennigan’s and Steak & Ale have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and stores owned by its parent company will shut their doors. Here in Florida 13 Bennigan’s restaurants have announced that they will be closing for good this week. 6 of those restaurants are in the Tampa Bay area alone, with the rest of the 13 in Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville.
The companies owned by privately held Metromedia Restaurant Group of Plano, Texas, filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday in the Eastern District of Texas, less than two months after Metromedia said it was not preparing to do so. It wasn’t clear whether franchisee-owned restaurants would be closing as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Brooksville, FL - Over the past 4 months the Southern Party of Florida has delibartly maintained a very low profile and has kept itself out of the spot light despite dozens of chances to expose itself to the world. The leadership of the SPFL wants to take time to express to the Party’s 314 members, supporters and millions of Southron / Confederate comrades in arms across Dixie that we are working very hard for you despite our current policy to remain “under the radar”.
It has been and will remain a policy of the SPFL to maintain a very low profile until next year when the Party can and should be able to stand on its own two feet and fight its own battles free from the “coat tales” of the SCV, UDC, LoS and also free from the confines of the world wide web. Tampa, FL (FOX) - It’s hard to see, even up close. It’s underwater and most parts are completely covered in barnacles. But Florida Aquarium dive teams have confirmed that a long-submerged wreck in the Hillsborough River is that of the Kate Dale, the first Confederate blockade runner ever found in the state of Florida.
“Oh, it was killer, man,” diver Billy Morris offered. “It was like one of those things, you just get so stoked and you sit there and you’re like, man this is great.”
For nearly two years, these crews have been researching this underwater wreckage in the Hillsborough River. Read the rest of this entry »

Houston, TX (BBC) - For anyone worried about the price of petrol, it is worth keeping an eye on this year’s hurricane season. Last week Hurricane Dolly threatened oil production in the Gulf of Mexico, but the storm passed by the oil platforms before hitting Texas and northern Mexico. However, in 2005 two huge hurricanes, Katrina and Rita, shut down oil production in this region and sent oil prices climbing.
With another four months to go, forecasters are expecting a busy hurricane season this year and the signs are worrying. Read the rest of this entry »

Tampa, FL - A dive team with the Tampa based Florida Aquarium has made quite a discovery by opening a window into Tampa’s proud Confederate past - a very rare Tampa based Confederate blockade runner that was torched in 1862 by U.S. Marines trying to lay siege to the City of Tampa.
Using sonar, the team says they’ve found what could be the remains of a wrecked Confederate blockade runner that was hidden at a makeshift Confederate launch alongside the Hillsborough River during the early years of the War for Southern Independence. Read the rest of this entry »

Brownsville, TX – Reports from the South Texas area have come in to the Florida Patriot that the area’s emergency wireless network is down despite hundreds of thousands of Federal aid money which was sent out following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to all gulf coast cities (including Brownsville, TX) to update their antiquated networks so that first responders can remain operational regardless of the amount of damage inflicted on the network. ATLANTA, GA - For the first time in a long time the Federal Government has done something to support and or promote States Rights in Dixie, albeit in a in direct way; and for the first time ever the ACLU (the Liberal Vanguard) has aided the Southron / Confederate “Cause” by spearheading the charge to take the teeth out of this imperial law which has been forced upon the Southern people of Florida since the early 1940’s. BROWNSVILLE, TX (AP) - Residents and recovery teams began fanning out across south Texas at dawn Thursday and cars crept along roads with darkened stoplights as the region got its first look at the destruction left by Hurricane Dolly.
Traffic picked up on local roads littered with debris as people emerged for the first time in more than 24 hours after Dolly’s soaking rains and punishing winds. After crashing ashore on South Padre Island, the storm ripped roofs from homes, flooded roads and downed power lines, but the Rio Grande levees officials had feared could breach held strong.
Still, the danger had not passed as power lines hung across streets and water surrounded neighborhoods. Residents should stay at home “unless it’s life or death,” said Tony Pena, Hidalgo County emergency coordinator. Read the rest of this entry »
