NEW ORLEANS EVACUATES AHEAD OF GUSTAV

August 30, 2008

New Orleans, LA (AP) – Ray Nagin said residents of the city’s West Bank should begin moving out at 0800 (1300 GMT) on Sunday, with the East Bank leaving at midday (1700 GMT).

He called it “the storm of the century” and added: “You need to be scared”.

Gustav, which is forecast to strengthen to a Category 5 storm over the Gulf, powered through western Cuba overnight.

Gustav ploughed through Cuba’s Isla de la Juventud, or Isle of Youth, overnight on Saturday before hitting the mainland in Pinar del Rio province, home to Cuba’s lucrative tobacco plantations. Read the rest of this entry »

ALASKA GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN IS MCCAIN’S RUNNING VP MATE

August 29, 2008

Dayton, Ohio (AP) - On his 72nd birthday, it was John McCain who pulled the surprise, tapping a female, first-term governor to be his running mate, his campaign announced Friday.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who at 44 is younger than newly minted Democratic nominee Barack Obama, was to be introduced as the Republican vice presidential candidate at a noon rally in Dayton, Ohio.

Palin, the first woman to serve as Alaska’s governor, was elected in 2006 and has a reputation as a political reformer.

“Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president,” the McCain campaign said in a statement. “She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.” Read the rest of this entry »

THE OBAMA DNCC SPEECH FALLS FLAT, LOOSES GROUND WITH INDEPENDANTS

August 29, 2008

Gainesville, FL - Much to my surprise Obama’s hyped up speech on the final night of the DNCC was an utter and epic failure that was only received by his current flock of kool aid drinking supporters. Obama’s speech did nothing to bring over McCain supporters, quell the anger of the renegade Hillary supporters whom plan to vote for McCain, and most importantly of all did absolutly nothing to attract Independent voters whom will be the key to winning the Presidentcy in November.

Given all the build-up, hype, and despite the unethical pandering by the liberal media / ultra-liberal Hollywood elite Obama’s speech still fell flat and in my opinion set the Dem’s back a step or two. His speech was not infused with new ideas for change but was instead tainted and border line obsessed with Bush-bashing that conjured up images of Hitler bashing the jews, catholics, russians, and everyone else he blamed for the ills of society. NEW ORLEANS REMEMBERS KATRINA, AWAITS GUSTAV

August 29, 2008

New Orleans, LA (AP) - New Orleans will commemorate the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on Friday under the threat of Tropical Storm Gustav, which is creeping toward a city with many of the same vulnerabilities that proved disastrous in 2005.

Much has been done to repair and strengthen levees and install floodgates and floodwalls along the man-made canals that slice through New Orleans. But for every dollar that has been invested so far, at least three more of the federal dollars approved to shield the city from massive storms remain unspent.

Only in April, for instance, did the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers award a $695 million contract to build a barrier that would help protect the eastern part of New Orleans from a Gulf of Mexico storm surge of the type that flooded much of the city during Katrina. The project isn’t scheduled to be finished for at least another year, according to federal officials. Read the rest of this entry »

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: AMERICA’S GREATEST WAR CRIMINAL

August 28, 2008

Abraham Lincoln should without a doubt be named America’s greatest war criminal. His war of invasion not only killed over 600,000 innocent Americans but it was obvious from his earlier speeches that he had previously advocated the prevalent constitutional right of democratic, state by state secession. Lincoln’s War also effectively overthrew the existing decentralized, limited federal government that had existed and governed well in the U.S. since establishment by America’s founding fathers. Lincoln bastardized a respected federal government with limited powers into a dictatorial, uncontrollable Washington Federal Empire.

Because of Lincoln, the former American constitutional republic fell from a dream of liberty and limited government into the nightmare big government we have today without the earlier checks and balances of state sovereignty. After Lincoln, In foreign policy, the US forgot George Washington’s warning about neutrality and we became an aggressive military abroad until today we have troops defending the Washington Empire in over 144 nations around the world. August 28, 2008

Miami, FL - Tropical Storm Hanna became the eighth tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. GUSTAV SETS SIGHTS TOWARDS NEW ORLEANS ON EVE OF KATRINA ANNIVERSARY

August 28, 2008

Tampa, FL - The Tampa Bay area and state’s west coast remain at the edge of the cone of possible strike zones for Tropical Storm Gustav, though the storm may be a smidgen less powerful as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center kept the track of Gustav mostly unchanged in its afternoon forecast for the storm.

Forecasters still believe Gustav, which grew even weaker during the afternoon, will move west for the next several days, taking the storm south of Cuba. By Friday, forecasters say, the storm should begin making a gradual curve to the northwest. Read the rest of this entry »

WHY JESUS WOULD NOT VOTE OF OBAMA

August 25, 2008

Washington, DC (Word Net Daily) – In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the “alarming news” that “right-wing politicians” had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.

Michelle called partial-birth abortion “a legitimate medial procedure,” and wouldn’t supporters please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against “cynical ploy[s]” to stop it?

TROPICAL DEPRESSION #7 SETS SIGHTS ON SOUTH FLORIDA

August 25, 2008

Key West, FL - Satellite data and surface observations show that a tropical depression has now formed about 260 miles southeast of Port au Prince, Haiti.  Tropical Depression Seven is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph.  A gradual decrease in forward speed is expected over the next day or so which would allow the storm to be near or over southwestern Haiti on Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 miles per hour with higher gusts.  Tropical Depression Seven is expected to strengthen and will likely become a tropical storm within the next twenty four hours.

The latest track guidance takes this storm on a general path toward the northwest.  Interests in the Bahamas and the southeastern United States should keep a very close eye on Tropical Depression Seven.

FAY’S FLORIDA DEATH TOLL STANDS AT 6

August 24, 2008

Pensacola, FL - As Tropical Storm Fay finally got on track Friday to make its way out of Florida, flood-stricken homeowners got an encouraging sign: Muddy brown water lines began appearing on the sides of homes, a clue that floodwaters were receding.

The fickle storm that stuck around for five days and carved a dizzying path that included three separate landfalls dumped more than 2 feet of rain in some places. But to the relief of Floridians, it was finally expected to veer west over the Panhandle before leaving for good later this weekend.

Officials in Melbourne, one of the hardest-hit areas on the central Atlantic coast, carried boats down streets where just a day earlier 4 feet of water made roads look like rivers. Water several feet high remained in some neighborhoods, but most of the area had drained, leaving behind a half-inch layer of muck and mud. Read the rest of this entry »
