Obama’s Bailout Bunch Brings Us More of the Same

Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) – It’s hard to believe Barack Obama would even think of calling this change.

Take a good look at some of the 17 people our nation’s president-elect chose last week for his Transition Economic Advisory Board. And then try saying with a straight face that these are the leaders who should be advising him on how to navigate through the worst financial crisis in modern history.

First, there’s former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin. Not only was he chairman of Citigroup Inc.’s executive committee when the bank pushed bogus analyst research, helped Enron Corp. cook its books, and got caught baking its own. He was a director from 2000 to 2006 at Ford Motor Co., which also committed accounting fouls and now is begging Uncle Sam for Citigroup- style bailout cash.

CALIFORNIA DEMANDS PROOF OF OBAMA’S CITIZENSHIP

SACRAMENTO, CA – A new challenge to Senator Barack Obama’s citizenship was filed November 12th in California demanding that the court stop certification of the election results until the state’s secretary of state can ascertain from Senator Obama his legal qualification to be a candidate for President.

OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST

Barack Obama is a socialist.

We were pretty sure this was the case after he made his remarks about how bitter people in small towns cling to religion. As Bill Kristol points out, this is very similar to Karl Marx’ line about religion being the opiate of the masses, if not as eloquent as the original German “Die Religion … ist das Opium des Volkes.” Senator Joe Lieberman reinforced this, observing, “I’d hesitate to say he’s a Marxist, but he’s got some positions that are far to the left of me and I think mainstream America.”

Now, we learn that in 1965, when Obama was 4 years old, his dad, writing as “Barak H. Obama” (the Communist-preferred spelling) wrote an essay on “African Socialism and its Applicability to Planning in Kenya” that wasn’t particularly critical of socialism.

OBAMA DOES NOT MATTER – YOU DO!

Across America, there was jubilation and dancing in the streets. We have a new prophet. We are set free and ready to follow.

But soon enough we will learn that President-elect Barack Obama himself doesn’t make a new nation. He cannot right every social wrong or work economic miracles.

And he certainly can’t give you everything you want. Even if you wore an “Obama for President” button for the past 15 months.

So it is time to get back to work. And face reality: Without sacrifices from all Americans, Obama won’t matter.

SOUTHERN VICTORY – FORREST HIGH NAME CHANGE REJECTED

Jacksonville, FL (AP) - The Duval County School Board Monday night decided the issue of whether a mostly black high school should continue to bear the name of Nathan Bedford Forrest — a Confederate general.

The seven-member board, which has two black members, rejected changing the name by a vote of 5 to 2.

Before the vote, dozens of people on both sides of the issue addressed the school board. It lasted three hours to gather all the public input.

2008 ELECTION COULD SET TV VIEWING RECORDS

NEW YORK, NY (AP) - Election viewership on television and online could approach records Tuesday night – provided some suspense holds.

The presidential campaign has been a TV hit from crowded pre-primary debates through a Barack Obama infomercial last week that reached an “American Idol”-sized audience. It stands to reason that millions of Americans will tune in for the final results.
